Down this path,
cut with declivity,
Assurances reign
Where the passing
Of
Time
Passes in petulance
Passing by
Passing
It all
My own desultory
Ways
haunt
My dreams
Of a life
That never had the chance
to breathe
declivity and desultory in the same poem? delightful!!
ReplyDeleteThat alliterative sequence is almost as good as bears, beets and battlestar galactica
Deleteis that you think about when you are walking back to your life from being in the hills on a perfect fall day? some of my hikes are the opposite, especially the 5-7 day back country hikes. it's intentional for me, I want to experience real hardship in the cold and isolation and be excited about retuning to the world.
ReplyDeleteNo... This is about choices.. Planned vs unplanned. About lives lived in reality and those we live in within our dreams. The people we are juxtaposed against the people we could have been, could be still, will never be.
DeleteActually I enjoy hiking more for the absence of thought. I guess some seek out the quietness of nature to think.. I seek it to not think. It is my meditation.. I lose myself and all of the "noise" in my stride. My eyes quietly observe. That's it. I love who I am when I'm alone.
